Meeting Summary

Better prediction of climatic variability for rain-fed agriculture and development of sustainable marine resource utilisation is critical for developing countries bordering the Indian Ocean. This inter-disciplinary meeting will discuss: new information on geological structure, history and palaeo-oceanography of the Western Indian Ocean, coupled ocean-atmosphere climatologies, and interactions between physical oceanography, ocean productivity and regional fisheries.

Organised by Dr Thomas Spencer, Sir Anthony Laugton FRS and Dr Nic Flemming
